| The Giants had them but decided that neither would be good enough for us. the lad that scored twice yesterday, Toby, was told by the Academy coach, Peter (something or other) that he would never make a rugby player.
Any wonder that we're in the hole we are?

| My son played at Meltham & Honley school at the same time as George & Toby so I watched them for 10 years, their Dad Andy coached the team. Couldn't understand why Giants didn't keep them. I'm from Warrington originally & told my wire supporting uncle when they were signed by them that they would do well. For the King family I really hope both lads play in the final & are on the winning side.

| I was made to believe that one of the boys chose to go to Warrington and the other followed...
Of course they will want to follow success...

You were told only part of the story... Basically, Giants were not offering George a first team contract, but they also refused to release him. So his Dad had to pay 10k to get him out of his contract and sign for Wire. As mentioned, Toby was told he would never make it, so followed his brother.
I'm sure they would have loved to stay at Hudds, but unfortunately at the time Pete Riding was at the club.

So he was an U19 player on an U19 contract but (his dad) wanted a first team contract. The Giants didn't offer him a first team contract so he went elsewhere.
It seems here's another example of us not having the money that the big clubs do....

Pretty much, except the Giants also would not release him from his contract to sing for anyone else. So his Dad had to pay him out of his contract. Pretty poor from the Giants to be fair, potentially killing someone's career. Good to see he's doing well, just a shame he's not doing it at his home town club.

Killing someone's career? Think that's being overdramatic- He's only just turned twenty, and has been at Warrington a while which means he still had a few years in our academy to go. If we can't afford to give a youngster a first team contract then we can't. Doesn't mean that he wouldn't have been offered something at a later date. Not many 17 year olds on a first team contract! Sounds to me like wire scouts did a little poaching!!!!!! They have the cash to splash and the offer of a deal that we just weren't able to match seemed to be a lure. As for not Releasing him from his contract- releasing someone from their contract so they can sign for someone else- is that what we really want the club to do? its something the Giants have been slated for in the past!

Huh? Don't think you listened/read anything I said.... Warrington were not willing to buy him out of his contract, that's why his dad had to pay the money. No poaching done whatsoever. Giants did not want him, but refused to release him.
