Well, I've missed my rugby fix, and for a first hit out I think that's what we needed. A good physical encounter. Our forwards had a aggression, we looked solid and I thought the new lads all added a something, Ellis in particular.



It was a shame Halifax couldn't throw a bit more at us, or am I doing our defence an injustice?



Does anyone know what sparked the O'Connor v Moore episode? I just saw the aftermath....

Quite a fiery game, brough and connor both getting sin binned for scraps, good to see us show abit of mongrel which we lacked last year.

robinson played well at hooker, lunt took a knock but looked ok after.



Ellis man of the match for me with two tries and looked good.



Huby and Hughes also went ok.

I thought that was a pretty good hit out today.



Halifax played it a bit close to the edge of legal at times but it kept Giants going at full steam through the game.



Sadly the highlight was Broughy smashing Halifax's number 8. Just shows don't pick on the small guys !



Lots of positives in the game. Ellis was excellent, a few nice touches from Hughes. Huby defended well but no sign of the offloads yet.



Murphy was solid at fullback. Wingers and centres looked good. Broughy was fine. Robbo worked really hard but should stay away from coming out of the line to try and smash big forwards. I think 40 minute spells will mean Robbo lasts the season.



Happy with all the forwards.



So all in all a good blow and bring on the season.

From what i saw from behind the sticks Connor went in defending Robinson after their number 15 planted a few punches at him, probably after some verbals (again a big forward picking on the little man, same with the Broughy incident)

Broughton still looked abit shaky under the high bomb to his corner





hope huby hasnt been told to stop his offload and passing game... like crabtree.



robinson i think will be brilliant at hooker, like he was a few years ago when we had kev brown... loves to tackle and quite nippy around the ruck

Is Fairbank going to get much game time for you guys? Seems silly holding on to a player just for the sake of it.

maybe but he is down the pecking order, not helped by injuries last two seasons and not really impressing on loan... he is contracted to the club and on a decent salary so hes not going to leave on his own accord and we cant just get rid of him can we

Roberts playing for Oldham in a friendly,good win fax poor there big 8 creamed koppy b4 his illegal hit on broughy,Ellis a big plus has a kicking game!!!

The money that the Giants are rumoured to be asking for him seems ridiculous for a player well down the pecking order.









Probably a little unfair on Fax calling them poor, Huddersfield will beat SL teams by more than that with the team they had out not to mention about 1.5m difference in spend meaning it only really should be one way traffic. Oh and yeah our new aussie prop looks more than useful and didnt look out of place against the Hudds forwards for most of the game.
