| It's commonly said that the major issues some fans have with the refs calls is the fans don't actually know the rules

Especially them, all 9 or so that they seem to have on duty though bless Brian Carney who has the big screen reviews for RL Hurling and Gaelic Football and bet he's still on a fifth of what Stevo gets.

This seems to show that Grix passes that ball backwards to me!'"
Sorry Jools but think youre a few frames short with due respect ! Its where Jerry is in relation to Grix and the "lines" when he receives /catches it that will prove one or the other IMO
If hes in front of where Grix is when he releases it then despite all the scientific theories of justification then its a forward pass - and thats what it looked like from a position in the side stand in line with it
( Having said -I`ll take it if offered ! Weve had enough allowed for scores against us eg The Leeds draw at home last season )

No she's absolutely spot on. Both in her interpretation of the laws of the game and her explanation of why it isn't a forward pass. The only determining factor is which way Grix passes the ball. Everything else is irrelevant.
I don't know why so many of our fans are so obsessed with taking what was an excellent hard fought win in tough conditions away from the players by insisting that a pass that clearly wasn't forward should have been disallowed.

| It's incredible the amount of criticism there has been the last few days towards players after such a good win...especially when it appears not everyone seems to be aware of the rules of the game...

Where the ball ends up does not define whether a pass is forward. if you watch most passes at speed the ball ends up in front of where the pass is made from. In fact if you throw the ball backwards over your head whilst running the ball will still be caught in front of where the pass was initiated!
The definition of a forward pass is not based on whether the ball has travelled forward but on the passing motion- and in this case the motion was backwards.
