| Quote Mad_Jack_Mcmad="Mad_Jack_Mcmad"But you're assuming that we are desperate to sign him right at this moment. We can have him for nothing at the end of the season. The bidding war is a straw man argument as Brough's agent will already know exactly what sort of offers his client will recieve at that point. If there is the potential of a better offer then he won't accept our offer at all. The clubs are both irrelevant in all this the only party in a strong position is Danny Brough and his agent. Of course the deal will have to be in Wakefield's best interests and I'm not suggesting Wakefield will give him away, they would be daft to do so, but to suggest they have a strong negotiating position is simply not true.'"
It could well be what Wakey see as a good figure Captain Ken may see as a token figure. Who knows.

Perhaps Wakefield approached us with a view to making a small amount on a player they now feel is rocking the boat at Wakefield. Who's in the 'strong position' then?'"
Certainly not us, and you may have to pay more than you wanted to stay out of a bidding war at the end of the season. At a guess I would say Danny Brough.

| It seems most wakey fans are incapable of accepting that Brough is one of their few players with exceptional ability and that he is moving on without some huge transfer fee being paid.
Instead we get umpteen idiotic rumours / theories that the Giants are being held to ransome due to 'illegal approaches' / and the pernicious links relating to a man's private financial siuation. These people are ludicrous and some have no integrity.
You also get wakey fans bagging brough over his 'troublesome character' and yet saying not a thing about Paul Cooke
The idea that Ted is running rings around Davy is laughable.
I like the wakey claim that the giants are so desperate to get brough that they will throw money at him rather than risk losing him. What rubbish! The club could wait til the end of 2010 and take their chance. they would have a very good shout. If they do not get him maybe they will go head to head with wakey for Brett Finch? I wonder which club he would prefer?

Why a bidding war? I would like Brough at the Giants but there are other players OOC for 2011. We could go versus you for Brett Finch.

I don't disagree with you, but I didn't say strong, I just said stronger than yours, because we could, if we wanted, just ignore all approaches and let happen what would happen anyway, ;ie, Brough walking out at the end of the year. I presume the Wakey position is that we will only be interested if the offer is enough to turn our heads, because doing nothing would not weaken our position if we are going to lose him anyway. It seems like a win-win for all sides, in that we get something for a player we would lose anyway, the "something" being whatever would make up for the loss of the main man for 21 rounds, and you get the player your coach wants without other clubs turning his head with a bigger cheque. For Danny Brough, he gets to move to a club that won't involve much more travel and potentially greater chances of silverware.
There would only be a need to roll the turd in glitter if we were forced to sell him, but of course we aren't, and so only a deal that would benefit Wakefield would be considered by wakefield. Like Terry Newton, we will soon forget him.

| Quote Wadski="Wadski"The announcement on the Wakefield club website doesn't mention an illegal approach. Would you care to elaborate or kindly STFU?'"
Danny Brough has been playing off Huddersfield against Wakefield in negotiations for a long while - you don't honestly think that Wakefield gave Hudders permission to approach Danny whilst trying their very best to get him to re-sign do you?
I believe the date that allows clubs to speak to contracted players is still 3 or 4 months away

So you are saying that Huddersfield didn't approach Danny but Danny approaching Huddersfield. That's not 'tapping up'.
