Dont want to get into the tapping up thing.....but on a side note, that would still be the same.....IF that happaned then the 'club' should have told him to go away and get permission first!!

| Quote Mad_Jack_Mcmad="Mad_Jack_Mcmad"But Brough is out of contract at the end of the season at which point his marketable value is zero. So why do so many Wakefield fans think they are in a strong negotiating position. Either Danny Brough wants to join Huddersfield or he doesn't. If he doesn't it don't matter a tinker's cuss what we are willing to offer for him, he will turn us down. By this stage of his contract his agent will have been in touch with every club in Superleague getting a feel for what offers are out there. If Huddersfield are the best bet then we could sign him in 6 months time for diddly-squat. Wakefield therefore are stuck in the position of getting nothing in 6 months time or >nothing for him now. They haven't got a very strong starting position when it comes to negotiating. No doubt a fee will be involved but it won't be a massive one and will probably factor into it the value to Wakefield on the savings on Brough's remaining contract.'"
On that line of reasoning then, we may as well release every player that is out of contract at the end of the season right now. Well they are going anyway .....

Who are you accusing of touching up? Was Ted involved? Do you have the negatives?
Put up or shut up.

| I'm afraid it's before the cut off date where I can speak to Ted in an official capacity so I shall have to use a system of raised eyebrows and knowing nods. I'll get back to you when I have the answer but I don't see a problem with your specified dress code at this point.

| Hmmmm. Sounds like Brough is guilty of gross misconduct. Wakefield have probably sacked him and are now angle shooting with Huddersfield to try and get the wages for a new coach driver.

| Let's hope the next driver they get is a fully inducted member of the Tufty club, for their sakes.

| If Huddersfield have been guilty of tapping him up, you can expect a big fine. Having said that uncle money bags will sort it so won't really be a deterrent. Maybe a point deduction would be more fitting a punishment for a club with seeming unlimited finances.

| Danny's agent is well aware of the strong interest from the Giants or to be more precise,Nathan Brown who desperately wants to add him to his team.
His agent is also aware that two other SL clubs have made their interest known and asked to be kept informed of developments. After Danny's agent informed them of this, the Giants decided to act now instead of waiting, prudent on their part, but it hands Wakefield the whip hand in negotiations.
If the Giants want to avoid a Dutch auction with two other clubs they have to come up with an offer that suits Wakefield. So from the Giants point of view it means balancing what they can/will/are prepared to pay to Wakefiled against the potential rise in wages that a three way tug of war for his services would instigate. With Salary cap restrictions at the forefront of peoples thinking an extra £20-£40 grand a year for the next 3/4 years is a major issue.

We are not complaining of tapping up and so that is a non-issue.
We'll know the outcome in a few days, but I presume that the Wakefield response to the approach to release him early was "make it worth our while". The problem with agreeing to letting him go early is that if it is a player-exchange, we are limited to not only those players on the Giants roster but also those the Giants are willing to release. By waiting until the end of the year, we could use the money we were offering Brough to invite any player here or abroad (subject to quota) to join Wakey, and maybe even one who played in the same position, and so it has to be a decent offer to make us jump early and leave a major gap in the squad, as opposed to spending the next eight months looking for a replacement.
And for what it's worth, if an individual is happy to pour his money into a rugby league club to make it better, good on him. I wish there were more like him (particularly if they had a WF postcode).

How about we start every game with -50 points? It wouldn't have you recently but Leeds / Hull KR and Bradford would have benefitted.
Since Wakefield are making announcements it would suggest they are 'happy' with the situation - nowhere is there a 'an illegal approach' announcement and 'reporting to RFL'. Maybe you should get your crayons out and draw Red Hall a picture?
