IIRC at start of the season there was a rumour of pay for play contracts. If he was on one of those it’s no wonder he’s decided to focus elsewhere. In any event what with the travel and pretty low pay professional rugby league in London is only for the few. For a guy with only low end L1 experience he didn’t disgrace himself and gave it a go but really if we are to do anything in the Championship it’s to be expected that such players may struggle for game time is there is active recruitment. It’s a shame so many of the London based players who weren’t quite there for a top end Championship/low end Superleague side like Boafo and Davies etc etc aren’t still around they’d likely have got quite a bit of game time this year.
Macani was an example of a player with only low end L1 experience stepping up. When he started I didn’t think much of him at all but he kept working and made a good contribution in the end. I think the attrition rate of Broncos who’ve come through the Academy and dropped out the game is way too high but with no other clubs in spitting distance to get experience at they drift away. Boafo’s electric pace made him a real game breaker at Championship level but maybe his defence wasn’t up to it although I always thought he gave it a go.
