| Quote NickyKiss="NickyKiss"Clubb shouldn’t have been given that new deal, we all know that and it’s was baffling how he got two years but I am loathed to give him too much stick. He’s been a good player for us over the years but his time should’ve been up. We’ve had a couple of years worth of performances that just aren’t good enough but I throw the questions at the management for keeping a player on who is clearly well past his best.
He played ok last night in fairness but the frustrating thing for him for me has been that he has shown he can play when he’s forced to. We had a spell of about a month in 2019 (The games included HKR away when Powell won it with a drop goal and Leeds away when Clubb scored in the corner) where there was only him fit from the senior props and he stepped up, took plenty of carries, was making between 80m-120m a game, 30-40 tackles and was generally very good but as soon as senior players came back, he put his cue on the rack and went back to 5 carries a game for 20 metres and 10 tackles. That should’ve been the end of his Wigan career IMO.'"
He’s got a contract until I think 2022 which seems crazy at the moment
Earlier in his career he was ok but years of cumulative injuries have reduced him to 15 minutes a game with zero impact
I don’t blame Clubb for the contract extension but management for offering him the deals

Has he? Thought he was off this time. The club needs to sort the prop situation out over the coming months, whether that be for this season or if the right players aren’t available, for next season.

| Quote Pieman="Pieman"but was no where near him, was a blind poor pass that will go down as a Hanley error instead of Halsall which is wrong, the other 2 in the game were his I didnt dispute it, like some in the other games were all him but some are others and are going onto hanleys stats. The Mellor one was a terrible pass from Smith (MOM) that went behind everyone and Hanley chased back and picked up and lost it in contact, also in that game Smith hit him with a bullet hospital pass which would go down as Hanleys but was Smiths terrible ball'"
The Halsall one - He got caught not being prepared for the quick pass when he was unmarked on the wing. Halsall was right to fire the pass out quickly because he would have been tackled if he had taken time over it, and if Hanley catches it then he's in for a try. If the pass had been where Hanley couldn't catch it then fair enough (though I'd question his positioning), but he clearly could catch it as he got his hand to it, just got caught sleeping.
Smith one - It was a bad ball from Smith for sure but Hanley has to take some of the blame there. He made the error because he tried to pick up the ball and run backwards/sideways with it instead of just diving on it, which he had plenty time to do. It's a rookie error from trying to do too much but it's one of many for him unfortunately. Kind of in the same category as the Wakefield one where he nearly gives up a try waiting for the ball to bounce out. He doesn't seem to have that sense of urgency around loose balls, possibly because he isn't used to being up against players who can quickly punish him for it.

I’m quite sure that he’s got a further year to go.
I don’t rate any of our forwards as top class but Havard has the potential to develop into one.
Byrne I think will get better with age. He has a bit about him that I like but I doubt if he will ever be a major metre maker. Another decent prospect
Bullock continues to flatter to deceive. Maybe he has reached his peak.
He needs to do significantly more minutes but not sure if he capable of doing that
Singleton and Partington decent squad players.
Clark and Clubb both not good enough and both seemingly incapable of doing more than 15 minute stints
Not sure if Shorrocks is a prop??
Kilner has a few people myself amongst them suggesting more game time but I don’t think anyone really knows if he can kick on
The younger guys all work really hard and I don’t think anyone bar Saints can really muller us but we are doomed to be the bridesmaid and not the bride until this is resolved

Apologies in advance if I’m wrong but I got told that he’s got another year.
The person who told has strong connections with the club and they could have been winding me up but they did sound convincing. I did actually ask if they were winding me up and they assured me that they were not
Clubb is I believe very respected within the club at all levels and maybe the extension is linked to coaching or the community activities.

This is the last update I can find. If they have given him an extra year, then they've not announced it.

Not sure why it hasn’t been announced other than I think we tend to announce extensions later in the season?
I hope that I’ve been well and truly conned but until the club announce his retirement or that he has been released I’m working on the assumption that he is here until 2022.
I will happily take any flak on this if I’ve been had.

I’ll not be jumping down your throat about it, we all hear things and generally speaking they’re mostly untrue.
That being said I hope this isn’t true. He’s become a parody of himself a prop of Championship at best standard. We need him off the books and his salary freeing up
