There doesn't seem much common sense applied here does there?
I am sure the law will have been applied properly but they will be paying tax not costing the tax payer money and of course will be spending their wages in the UK etc.
I suppose if you yield to the paranoid view of the UK is being overrun with those who sneaked in illegally in the back of a wagon, claimed asylum and sought housing / benefits then you get strict laws like this that affect people like the players involved.
My comment about "who snitched" does beg the question who put the immigration service onto them and also if they can get this lot out of the country so fast (they must leave by Sept 7th) why we have an immigration problem at all?
I suspect they were easy targets, probably because they thought they were here legitimately and were not in hiding working in some sweat shop.

Could this be a positive for RL especially in Wales in the long run? Celtic are now 6 players down which means they are going to have to play 6 players from their reserves who are probably local and welsh.

Exactly. Its not even as if they are on low wages, these guys (especially Hannay and Van Djik) will be on decent amounts and will be paying on a high tax band.
Unless they all have criminal records I dont see what benefit comes from deporting and banning these people.
I personally hope they all appeal and win. Its a great example of a stupid lack of sense applied to a situation |
