They have already started.
One of the biggest "fall outs" of the Wigan-Bath game was the acceptance that RL was streets ahead in this respect.
Why do you think Paul, Robinson, Connolly et al were given short term RU contracts shortly after? Tbh the defensive part of their game came as a shock to many RU fans (though not RU coaches).
As I have said before, RL in the UK will shortly become a feeder sport for RU (if that hasn't already happned already). Those talented youngsters who "slip through the net" from playing RU at a young age, will be scooped up later. We won't see another RU raid on "over the hill" players like Faz, rather youngsters like Ashton, Smith (and dare I say it Tomkins in 3-4 years).
Still, at least the forwards are safe.........
Is RU boring- I am not sure anymore. There is no doubt the talent and skill levels have improved massively. With the current relative financial situations (both natural and self-imposed) in both codes, the talent pool that RU coaches will have to work with will be far greater than that of RL.
A few changes to the rules of RU to encourage less kicking and more handling and it can only get better.
With the "dummy half scoot" killing our game, I don't think we are in a position to throw words like "boring" about.
