Is there anyone but me that wants Betts to succeed at Widnes? (Obviously not at the expense of us this weekend). I seriously hope that regardless of how Widnes fare for the rest of the season I hope they stick with him and build on what they have for next season.



At the end of the day they were promoted to SL and then assembled together with a squad of players where the majority were 'surplus to requirements', what more did they expect other than a couple of wins over the season? (which I still think they will manage).

I know what you mean but do players really need a rest after 4 games?

I don't see how you can say that, he hasn't performed yet and whether he plays well or not will make very little difference. His influence from out on the wing will be minimal, Wigan by at least 40 for me.

Matty I hope he does well as will mean Widnes competitve.I am really disappointed with my team and wish we could nick some of the best from the top teams.

I hope Betts gets the team to come good a week from now, he was a good coach for us, a little inexperienced, and we really didn't bring someone in who would help him along in that department (Millward).



Widnes should have more faith, Betts is not the one falling off tackles, giving soft penalties, the players are professional and are paid to do a job, which they are not doing, but they are a new team and time will only improve them.

i think personally we have to be very wary about playin widnes, i know they've not done so well so far but they have quite a few ex wigan players playin for them, cross, davies, briscoe, clarke, allen, plus marsh (dont know if he's eligible or nor not). that always contributes to a good game cos players will always give an extra 10% against their home town team or ex team. e.g huddersfield with the likes of brown, robinson, wild. always played well against us.

No I'm right with you. I hope Betts succeeds for many reasons, but mostly because... he's BETTS... but also, well, it could get pretty embarrassing for SL if they start letting 70+ past them, which I could see happening with your Wigans, Wires and Saints.

It's a test of our professionalism and that's it really. Turn up like we would any other game (and did at Cas in what would have been a tough environment) and we'll win. Go into it cocky and we may get shown up, but it would take a real big effort from Widnes as well.

I was thinking about this yesterday - with Wane saying on his appointment that he'll be blooding the youngsters, and with Hughes and Spencer playing due to others injuries, is this not the perfect game for someone like Russell/Powell/Tomkins to get the place on the bench and come on for the last 20 minutes?
