The official DW Stadium website says the capacity for the North Stand is 5,400. The stadium seating capacity is down as 24,800. Therefore there is only 19,400 seats for the home fans of which 16,700 were took.



So we need less than 3,000 extra fans to turn up for the derby and i'm sure Saints will sell out 5,400. We should get a sell out.



Only problem is that the past few years we have had to leave 500 seats free in the South Stand meaning we can only get 24,300.

The north stand has the same restrictions as the south stand so the actual capacity for a rugby game is 24,028 which we achieved in 2007.

Why do 500 seats need to be left empty? In the early years, this never happened????

Something to do with laws about unreserved seating IIRC.

For games like the Saints one cant they scrap the unreserved seating and assign seats to everyone so we can sell out the stand???

They could for the away end. But they sell South Stand season tickets unreserved so they can't do it.

For future seasons then wouldnt it make sense to assign a seat to every season ticket holder in the south, that they must stick to in designated games???

It would be more hassle that its worth in my view but I don't sit in there so I don't really have an opinion on that idea.

Me niether, just seems a bit daft that we can technically sell out yet have 500 empty seats in that stand. Not that its going to be such an issue apart from the Saints game and possibly the Wire game.

It would also be easier to identify and ban the scrotes in the South Stand that cause all the bother.

I have a friend who sits in the south, and they said after the Leeds game, that the chav element @ the back is getting worse.

I heard the same at the reserves game yesterday.
