| I personally feel he is quite wasted at full back as we dont use him as much.

| Quote jonh="jonh"When we have a 1 as good as Amos there is no need to use him at 1. The more I think about it the more ridiculous it seems.
Our wingers will score tries regardless of how good they are. Goulding has 18 this year non of which have been too difficult.
Amos is an outstanding 1 we do not need a class winger we need a class fullback and Amos is just that.'"
Agreed.

| Whether tomkins plays stand off/prop or full back he is the type of player who will always be involved in the game. However, I didn't like him at full back yesterday. It didn't look right, his attacking play was very good but his attacking play is also very good when he is at stand off. But he doesn't look defensively comfortable at full back yet, however I suppose that will come with experience.
A couple of examples stand out.
1) The quins 40-20, tomkins should have called goulding back earlier in the set however he pushed to the corner and left 3 quaters of the pitch open to quins attack and they took advantage of it on a couple of occasions getting us on the back foot.
2) Their second try I think, Sam was nowhere to be seen at full back and I think richards actually tracked back and was the closest man to the tackle.
If we are to sign finch I would love to see him in the halves with sam, where this leaves tommy Id have him as starting 9 with riddell/mcillorum on the bench. Roberts needs to be our 1st choice full back because he looks so confident there. Pat and darrell on the wings. One thing the signing of a player like finch gives us is alot of options which is what you need in a gruelling season when injuries are undoubtedly going to be picked up.

| Best British half back we've had since Shaun Edwards, no doubt that is where his future lies. No harm now and then moving him around if to cover injuries, or it benefits selection, he would score a bagful at prop!

| Play Sam anywhere 1 - 13 he will have a go and be superb . He is just Rugby League daft .
Even when the players came out for a stroll around the pitch to check conditions about an hour before kick-off Sam and Liam could not resist having a kick about on thier own . Just so much passion for the game .

| The last thing Wigan/Superleague/the English game need is another imported foreign half back. I personally hope the move to full back was temporary to give Deacon a bit of playing time. Tomkins is without a doubt a 6 and as mentioned Roberts before his injury was without doubt the form player in the league at fullback.
On another note, and another club, does anyone think Danny McGuire would make a fantastic fullback? Watching the game yesterday his support play and timing into the line won Leeds the game. Ive never thought he had the handling skills or presence to be 6 or 7.

surely you cannot be thinking that Paul "as fast as a car with no engine" Wellens is better than Amos

I think it's fair to say Wellens' contribution over his time at Saints has been substantially greater than Amos "one scapegoat season, two good months" Roberts.

I think you're dramatically underestimating the value of a scapegoat to the average Wigan fan
