To be fair to the 'ultras' they brought a bit of colour to the atmosphere, along with a fantastic amount of wigan fans for a friday night match. I can see what my fellow Robin is trying to suggest, but I take the ultra term with a pinch of salt. Accrington Stanley fans do something similar, as do York City as far as I know, and it looks impressive when the full stand is doing it.



Just to add though, and it might be my failing hearing in my later years, but am I right in thinking that someone in the bunch of 'ultras' was blowing a whistle now and again, not to clever really if so.

Thought your turn out was great and they were very well behaved, what is the problem with a flare or two.

I've always gone to football and both codes of rugby matches regularly throughout my life and am old enough to remember when they each had totally different yet equally enjoyable atmospheres. Not any more. All three give you the same songs, the same crowd behaviour and sadly, the beginning of the creep of the same on field histrionics. I suppose its the inevitable result of football's media saturation but it's more than a little bit sad that the match day experience of all our leading ball sports has become so homogenised.



It would be nice if both sets of rugby supporters-and the modern cricket fan too-could stay closer to their own traditions rather than reheating football's culture.

That looks like a KR shirt from 2007 and those trousers are from about 1998, am I missing something here?
