Possibly the funniest thing I've ever read!!

While I don't like seeing players get personal abuse from fans, Mathers does kind of invite it. He seems to be very active on these public forums, despite his often very poor performances on the field.



He could do worse than take the advice of a former Warrington hardman, one William Macfarlane, who I overheard in the Royal Oak one Saturday night.



It was in the late 1970s, Wigan had been trashed by Widnes in the cup, and Billy Mac was in there when two of Wigan's backrowers came charging in, necking ale and shouting. In his own unique way, he advised them that the best thing they could do, after the performance they'd put in that afternoon, was not to show their faces around Wigan for at least a month. Abashed, they sloped off.

He seems like a nice lad and I do feel sorry for him to a certain extent, but by expressing his general opinions on an open social networking site he must expect to be open to criticism as well as praise.



If he can't ignore criticism or abuse then he should either switch his profile to private or delete his account.
