It's the NHL draft tonight,will the Islanders draft Tavares or Hedman?

The Islanders picked Tavares,maybe he can do what Crosby did with the Pens and turn the franchise around.The 1st thing they need to do is get a new arena as the one they're in is now well past its best.

First day of free agency and the Hawks lose Khabibulin but gain the biggest name out there with Hossa signing a 12 year deal.

I think Montreal are going for the smallest team in the league title signing Cammileri(sp?)Gionta and Gomez.Also Minnesota and the Rangers taking risks signing often injured Havlat and Gaborik to big contracts

Hawks sign NJD centre John Madden on a 1 year deal & Redwings Centre Tomas Kopecky on a year deal.

Plus re-sign both Versteeg & Barker to 3 year deals.



Have to say I like the way the team is shaping up its certainly looks to have more balance. Although Madden is the eldest player on the team I think his experience will prove valuable to this team and would rather have him than Pahlsson.



Just need another top guy between the pipes.



Just don't see how Havlat is going to fit into Minnesotas style of phyiscal play. Gaborik is a decent signing by the Rangers but will they have enough in the rest of the roster to get the best out of him?

I cannot believe that Sather has signed that Brashear on a free agent contract, especially after that cheap shot he made against Blair Betts in the playoffs last year.



Oh well, at least we know which team will accrue the most penalty minutes next season, especially with Avery in the team. Not that we don't get enough anyway! Fooking marvellous.

Hull lad Dave Phillips was invited to the Blackhawks training camp and has taken the chance and grabbed it with both hands by earning a contract with their AHL Farm team Rockport Icehogs. Way to go Davy!!!
