Sorry, I know you're disappointed and probably angry but your post is out of order IMO

We could have Ryan Hall and Jason Nightingale on the wings and we still would've been caught outside due to A) fitness B) e form C) a lack of marshalling in defence and many other factors. Yes Johnstone still has a lot to learn but he is only 19 FFS and I agree with Avenger your post is OTT in that regard. Agree with your points on the other players though.

As negative and as annoyed as I have been and can be, I think we all need to calm down a bit or we are as bad as the headless chickens we are criticising..that is the problem..one or 2 things go wrong and they implode! Can we have a coach please?

Carney chose his try as a highlight of the weekend and said at 19 years old and with his physique he has the ability to go far in SL. He added that bigger clubs are likely to hunt him. I thought in difficult circumstances he did his best and we can ask no more than that

Only the brush off he took from Shenton to be embarrassed about. Should have been in the team for weeks and maybe he would hbe more up to Super League speed.

Tom Johnstone is great in attack and poor in defence. His defence can be worked on.

He was one of a very few players who looked interested yesterday, and his effort can't be faulted.

We need to remember he is only 19 and still has much to learn. He has shown a lot of promise with ball in hand but a few frailties defensively, but nothing that can't be improved. At this level he will now get targetted so given he would be up against one of the best this week in Ryan Hall i would be tempted to leave him out of this one, work intensely on his defence for a couple of weeks then bring him back in for the salford game. We have to be careful not to destroy his confidence early on by making sure he is managed correctly.

Pretty much what we said yesterday, spot on IMO.

Apart from when Shenton fended him off and him and Owen went for the same high ball he didn't do too much wrong. I would be more worried about the other edge of Miller Lyne and Riley who are all extremely poor defenders and show no aggression.

Johnstone is a young kid with bags of potential. He should develop into a very good RL player. The trouble is he needs work and coaching and he isn't going to get that our club with the backroom staff that we have at the moment.



OK you may say when Brian Smith comes he will turn things around, well I am not so sure. That shambles I saw yesterday looks too big a job for one man to do in the short space of time he has been given to do it.
