| It's a pretty handy backline and Walshaw showed alot of promise in his first team outting against Leeds, where as Tony and Kirmond are very capable back ups

| Quote bren2k="bren2k"So would I - he's no less likely a candidate to make it as a SL winger than Jamie Foster at Saints; they are of similar build and at similar stages of their development as players. The main differences are of course that Foster is surrounded by quality and can kick goals from anywhere.
In my opinion, Dale Morton in the 2012 iteration of WTW will look like a completely different player to the 2011 version.'"
Foster is head and shoulders above Morton in my opinion. The concern I have is that Tony is too injury prone to be our first choice full back, and Cockayne is a better player anyway. That leaves us with a problem on the wing, as I think Morton is too unreliable, and lacks the ability to be an effective Super League winger.

I think Foster is vastly over rated, he's a very good goal kicker but in general play he's average at best.
Were he not playing for Sts he'd struggle to make any impact whatsoever.

I think morton has potential and skills, the only thing i would be worried about if he played for my club is his size as he isnt the biggest and seems to struggle against the bigger wingers.

I don't agree - I think he's looked head and shoulders above Morton due to being in a vastly superior side who can throw the ball out wide and put their wingers away; Foster also gets a lot of attention because he's a lethal goal kicker and has better hair.
I still think that with an off-season under a proper RL conditioner and with a better quality centre inside him, Morton will come good. Providing he gets a new hair-do.

loved the better hair quote gave me a chuckle while on my night shift. I am a morton fan and agree with bren really. With abit more muscle and a good and the fact he might get the ball outwide instead of having to go from dummy half and i think he will be a very good winger and hes good with the boot too.

| Morton is good enough. He's already been doing it.
For all the talk of our young prospects he is the nearest to being a good Super League level.
Also I think he has already started building up. When he started he looked painfully skinny, especially when he stood near other club juniors, but last season he looked a lot stronger without actually getting bigger. That's all he needs. No good putting a stone on and finding he is slowing down.

| Dont forget Dale has had another 12 months of training and healthy diet,he is getting stronger each year and developing into a class player. He will be very much sought after in the near future, we need to sign him up long term. His progress is just fine to be witnessed by all in 2012,exciting times ahead.

| And the good thing about this backline is even if we add 1 more threequarter to the list of backs there is still room to blood the likes of Walshaw and Cowling when injuries do come. Cant wait for next season.

| For me morton in his 3rd season full time needs to show some improvement. He's ok as a wing option but I would start with cockayne.
I think Morton is capable of making the grade as a solid SL wingman but whether he does we will see.

| I think some are being a bit unfair on Dale Morton. Ok sometimes last season he was found wanting in some areas but he did have tommy Lee on his side, and was left exposed on many occasions.
Anyone who thinks foster is a better winger are kidding themselves. He plays for a top side who win a damn sight more than they lose, and foster is usually on the end of a move with a simple touchdown from a metre or so out.
He does not take the ball up as hard or as often as Dale Morton, and he makes the headlines for his kicking ability.
If Foster was playing at Wakey last season then he would probably be the topic of discussion right now for his failings.
Take the kicking away from Foster and play him in a bottom of the table team.....he would just fade away into history.
