I've seen Me and My Girl and it's amazing. Not sure how close it is now to his original but his music is famous and perfectly preserved .

He did. The Lambeth Walk is from Me and my Gal and he wrote the music and not the lyrics as I previously stated.

One of his biggest influennces was Bill Nelson.

Noel gay / stanley hill brought up in stanley where theres a hill known as stanley hill

I have known about him for years and surprised how many have not heard of him. I am sure he has a blue plaque on the main cathedral entrance and was a member of the choir back in the day.



Vasty here is another one for you, George Gissing. I am not a literature anorak but those who are tell me his skill as an author are comparable to Charles Dickens. He has a small house were he lived now turned into a museum and its near the Woolpacks.
