| Quote homme vaste="homme vaste"Would have Smith at 7 in my team all day long over Brough, again just my opinion but the way he guided us around the pitch was a lot better than any other half I have seen in the SL era, Liam Finn was probably the closest for me,but for me Smith has one of the best passing games I have ever seen and yes I include the NRL in that as well.'"
I wouldn’t have Smith anywhere near either Finn or Brough. He was inconsistent and ha zero bottle. He’s not even in my top five. Skill is no substitute for all that was missing.
I’ll accept Jeffries on a good day, I’ll even accept Ellis went too soon but Smith over Brough, not in my universe.
Still each to their own....

Prescott? As good a player has he was for Saints and Hull he certainly was no way our best full back. Apart from 1 long range try I can't really bring forward any other positive memories. Considering that his period was the nightmare 2000 season when players wern't being paid and ended up taking the club to an employment tribunal it's hardly surprising.

| Tim Smith was a very good player for us, but he wasn't even close to the levels that Brough hit in the last couple of years of his first spell. Aiton the stand out hooker for me as well.

That's pretty good that idea but I would put Chris Riley in at fullback just to confirm his status amongst those you mention.

Correct.
Brough was pure magic for two seasons, never had a bad game. He played his heart out and single handed won games. Had we kept him I believe we’d have won something, I never for one moment believed Smith would. Smith was full of ability but this idea that he led the team around is nonsense imo. It was Sykes who did all the hard work and when he wasn’t there neither was Smith.
I’m sure some will disagree with me but to me he’s a player who gets far more credit than he deserves, especially for his second stint.
He was by no stretch a disaster but the best we’ve had in SL!

Most of those I’ll go with but Sean Gleason, get real. You must watch a very different game to me because to most people he was a very handy player.

Brough, just before he left was sublime
His recent spell casts a bit of a shadow but, ability and service to the club should put him above Smith, although, Smith on his day was top drawer.
