Just listened to interview on iplayer. Richard Kelly was very good at dealing with the extremely one sided and negative questioning on Radio Leeds. No way was the interview balanced and neutral.

If that is the case then as it is the BBC a complaint can be lodged.

They will argue that they were only representing the alternative view (in the absense of someone to do it for them!)

Your probably trb , but sometimes you have to fight your own battles & not let a radio talk presenter do it for you.

Leeds City Council are the only rule 6 statutory objector to the Newmarket scheme.

Is it their right to offer an "alternative" view or to offer a "balanced" view? Surely by offering a anti NM (alternative) view they are being biased, and that they are not allowed to be.

Surely it is up to the objectors to offer the alternative view and if that is bot possible, then they should state that they offered the objectors the right to express their views, but they declined/didn't exist/couldn't be d/had been eaten by unicorns etc etc.

Grounds for complaint if you ask me (you didn't but hey!!!).

Yes, it just the 'rule' that grants them rights to be treated as a statutory objector as opposed just to a public objector, like you or me or any group. As well as councils, then organisations like Yorkshire Water, Natural England, The Environment Agency etc, etc are also statutory objectors.... but of course, none of them are objecting!
