Everything you say about Yorkcourt is totally justified. They have no morals whatsoever and their only priority in life is to line their own pockets. However they are not unique, quite sadly as far as the business world of development is concerned they are the norm.
However my real gripe is with WMDC. They are a democratically elected body who pay their top officers huge salaries in order to protect the interests of the general public in projects like Newmarket. WMDC brokered the NM project right from the outset, it was they who identified Yorkcourt and introduced them to the club. WMDC have been in this right from the outset and should have been competent enough to prevent this from happening. WMDC have failed in their duty to protect the public they represent.
OK we have lost a stadium for Wakefield so they may be thinking ,so what it doesn't effect that many people. However this NM project could just have easily have been a school or medical facility or some other community asset. Whichever way you look at things the public of Wakefield have been cheated out of a large sum of 106 money and the blame lies on the shoulders of WMDC in my opinion.'"
Agreed. It is WMDC who are massively at fault here. They were the ones party to the S106 and they should have been the ones making sure it was watertight.
Yorkcourt are a business and are in it to make money. If WMDC gave them a way out of paying several million pounds then most companies would take that opportunity.
WMDC are the ones who should take the brunt of the backlash in my opinion.

| Quote TRB="TRB"Given what we have learned, I would be very careful about getting too carried away with the current Tigers Stadium plans. There are big costs involved in the roadworks, bank formation and landscaping, as well as the stadium - that's a lot of money from not that big a development pot!'"
Can't see what Tigers proposed plans has anything to do with this topic TRB other than what we might learn from mistakes made by WTW and WMDC.
One thing I didn't know was that WTW were led into the deal with YC by WMDC. Must have missed that detail somehow.

| I know this has been done to death on this thread and others, but how York Court can back out of the agreement yet still get their end of the bargain absolutely stinks I'd almost forgot about the whole fiasco, now it's riled me again ha

Spot on in what you say. Although the problem is i suppose that if it was a school or a medical facility then pretty much eveyone in the district would disagree with the process would be onside in ganging up against the council. With it being a stadium for a private rugby club, which even though it is a 'community' facility that what is has always been seen as to all and sundry, then the wider level of support needed to make a difference isn't likely to be there. I imagine couple or three thousand irate Wakey fans with a few banners won't bother them in the slightest which leaves us high and dry.

Mainly due to Yorkcourt being infinately more clever than the council at a guess.

This
The "deal" was portrayed as a 100% certainty, with the only questions being about completion dates etc.
I know its not going to happen but, they ought to put a stop to the whole bloody lot and prevent any of the commercial development, until
the stadium is Guaranteed.
It is beyond belief that there can be ANY loopholes which can allow the development to take place without the Stadium

| Colin Mackie turns out to be cleverer than HM Inspector, the legal dept of WMDC *and* the legendary Sir Rodney Walker; who'da thunk it?
Fair play to him - amoral weasel he may be, and although money doesn't buy happiness, it's a lot more comfortable to cry in a Bentley than on a bicycle.

That would (more than likely) then see council breaching their own legally binding contract, which at present at least (it seems) that YCP aren't.
Crazy innit!!
Somebody has some answering to do somewhere!

| The more I read about this the more angry and frustrated I become. Planning for the development wouldn't have granted if the stadium wasn't part of it, thousands signed petitions yet the development seems to be getting built without the community stadium, what's WMDC stance on this?

| It would indeed be good to see our elected council and council lots comment on this.
I'm very surprised that the WE at least haven't been running some kind of story on this.
Radio Yorkshire (who often post on here) should also be interested.
