I know nothing of these matters other than I wouldn't expect Sir Rodney, Brian Nicholson and David Hinchcliffe to get tripped up by sucha basic and obvious matter. Does anyone know any of the facts and detail. Obviously many other colliery sites now have other uses. Has the Stanley site been filled in??'"
The pit shafts at Havercroft pit were never filled just capped. Don't know anything about the gasses. What I do know is that Havercroft pit shut in the late 1960's ands was immediately turned into offices and has been subsequently re-developed since with no attempt to fill the shafts HTH. |
