| If the council's short of cash then it's lucky we have a developer willing to build a stadium for free at Newmarket. Just rubber stamp it and all the council's problems are solved. Simple

| Quote jack in the box="jack in the box"Trouble is ther is no site in Normy , Newmarket is dead central to both clubs.
But this is not about fairness or common sense its all about people pulling Box's strings to get what they want.

Is that Box the Castleford shareholder?

| i think its a no win situation for both clubs but somthing that we will probaly have to do.both clubs will struggle to get a ground on there own as its already proving and in a strange way it does make sense to ground share, the problem to some then is as already pointed out where newmarket or glasshoughten my main worry is that if we where to ground share the rfl will soon get into this and start throwing money plus other benifits for us to merge as a club somthing knowbody on here wants

| Quote jack in the box="jack in the box"For what its worth the club have suspected this was a move that Box would make sooner or later. Therefore they have looked at a possible business plan that they could implement if they had to operate out of Glasshoughton. Basically it would be financial suicide for Wakefield Trinity and the club would not last a season.
Lets not fall into the trap being laid by box. He realises its finacial suicide for Wakey to try and operate out of Cas. He also knows by forcing wakey to play there it frees his hand and allows him to pump public money into the Cas project. Cas get their stadium and Wakey die, an ideal result for Box.
I for one will not give into this trick by Box, Newmarket is the best option and we must stand firm and stick by that. Cas are totally knackered funding wise and there is no way we should walk away from Newmarket to help them out.
Lets stand firm, we have a developer who feels he can deliver us a stadium with or without Cas so F off Box.'"
I think the real concern is the funding of Newmarket when built. As the council will form part of the community trust, they may feel they may be lumbered with any shortfall until or if the the stadium is generating enough money to cover its running costs. A project like this can not expect to be maximising turnover from day one, in fact it may take some years if ever, and as the council have already footed the bill for the feasibility study, they may well be considering their commitment.
Lets face it if the sports facilities made councils loads of money, we would not be having this debate as the council would have invested in them a long time ago.
Ill throw this in as well what would happen if you groundshare and one of you still lose your license.

Imo us sharing at GH is the end of our club, there won't be a merger after that cos we won't survive to merge, if we don't build at Newmarket i don't see a future for us.
Sorry to look on the dark side but thats how i see it but i aint ready to quit just yet.

| At least we have some information at last.
Aslong as we don't get kicked out of Super League it will be a victory.
I don't understand Castlefords argument though Methley to Cas takes approximatly
4minutes drive. The motorway 4 minutes drive. I can't understand your logic here.
Wakefield we are the MAMA we are the CITY Cas you are a small district next to
the CITY. You don't see LEEDS travelling to HUNSLET or ARMLEY they concentrate on the CITY
like we should.Nice bars nice facilities new roads into the stadium newmarket will be ideal
for both clubs. To be honest Mr Box is a lover of CAS and a CAS fan so it wouldn't suprise me the big MAMA
team i.e. US may have to share at GlassHoughton. This would be a shame but I would take it
over playing national league every week. Main thing we have some news.

| It seems WMDC and Box are driving the two stadium plans together, what is their agenda by doing this? and I dont think Box would see Glasshoughton as the ideal solution either so IMO Newmarket would be their prefered option with the community facilities and funding in place without costing WMDC owt....
I wonder why this has been brought up at this moment in time...

Yes it is 4 mins drive if you live at 3 lane ends and class methley as being just over the bridge.
I live at the other end of cas, it would take me much longer than 4 mins to get to methley.

i agree with what your saying but what im trying to say is no matter where a ground is built even at newmarket i worry as once we share the rfl will do there best for us to merge or even force it in a way,

| The pessimist in me sees WMDC dallying around until both projects are long past their sell by date and the RFL then use this as an excuse to cull both clubs.

Box is a snake and for some reason Cas have a massive hold over him. Have you ever wondered why we have to form SWAG and fight all the way. On the other hand Cas have just smugley sat there all along knowing they would have a stadium sooner rarther than later.
secondly there is a cabinet meeting due in August. Its a big meeting specifically to discuss funding cuts re budget. I think Box may probably want to sort out what he needs to spend to deliver the Glasshoughton stadium by then so it can be put safely on one side.

They probably would try but like i say it won't matter to us and doubt Cas would last long playing out of Newmarket either.
The only way this business could have worked out without one club suffering is a Normy shared stadium but that can't happen in time, so that rules that out.
I'm still hoping we can go it alone at Newmarket and will stick with that hope.
