Quite frankly it is squad quality. I see your team on paper (and many others do) as not as strong as Cas fans like to think, but the game ain't played on paper and you have arguably one of the best British coaches in the game. With other teams they rely on certain players but for you guys I think you rely on Powell. Without him, I doubt very much you'd be where you are.

Agreed, Powell is the most important individual at Cas.

Although we do have some top players scattered about the team (Dorn, Carney, Shenton, Gale, Holmes and Millington would get in any SL team IMO).

We all know Shenton isn't a top player, he got found out massively at St Helens. Holmes and millington maybe. At the end of the day you've a solid team that's well drilled and plays to a game plan.

He was good enough to be chosen in the SL Dream Team last year and also in the England team. His stats are better than most other centres in terms of tries, try assists and metres.

I don't think he struggled at Saints as much as some make out. He played almost every games and scored 20 tries from 58 appearances. In the 2011 grand final he scored a try before dislocating his shoulder and Leeds then scored most of their tries in the position he would have been defending.

Gale has been one of the leading halves in SL this year. Carney is devastating in attack (though I wish he wouldn't shoot out of the line in defence!)

If he is such a good centre then why did St. Helens get rid of him? All I saw from Shenton today were repeated attempts to con the ref by throwing himself on the floor, most of which were successful.

Churlish - we would love to have a centre as good as Shenton at this moment in time

I believe Shenton requested to be released from the final year of his contract. He was still living in Yorkshire and travelling to St Helens every day and wanted to be working nearer to his home. Saints knew they had the option of signing Jordan Turner so this suited everyone.

We had one... Dean Collis. And hardly churlish just stating what I saw from Shenton today. I think he's a decent player but I don't think he's ever been as good as he was in his first spell at Cas.

He's twice the player he was compared to his first spell. He was a decent defensive centre now he's improved his attacking abilities, will beat a man, puts trys on a platter for carney whilst still being high quality in defence. Today shanny was quiet. He's shut Watkins down twice this season. For me shenny and Watkins are the best two English centres.



As for wakey, why the hell is tansey being used as a winger!?! Especially when your full back goes off!?! Some of wakeys forwards impressed me today, that podgy walker, and Anderson, but the backs and halves were woeful.

Mcshane has signed for CAS so I have been told tonight so that would explaine why he seemed to be laughing and joking with there fans for most of the second half.

Thats 3 different clubs I've heard him linked with for next season.

I'm not saying you are wrong but we are very well served for hookers (if you can call them that) without adding Mcshane who i do rate highly.
