Cas are still looking to redevelop WR. The development at the Nestle site is still earmarked to be somesort of enabling development, albeit for the existing stadium rather than the new one.



With respect to this news. I can only wonder where Trinity would be if the sham feasibility study was ever allowed to take place.

According to our friends the council should not be wasting money in this way.





Not long since they wanted some for GH and later still to upgrade WR, seems they are short of memory at best.

The WMDC can't give funds to a private venture that's not happening but they can to a community project which is happening. The Wakefield & District community Stadium sports facilities for all .

Do we know that the NM funding isn't affected?

It's written into the 106 & WMDC are partners in the stadium development, so I'd imagine they're still on board.

Bad news for cas but lets not fool ourselves. The Tory led governments spending cuts have year on year slashed local authority budgets and this will continue into the next parliament. Priorities change and unfortunately I guess that funding sporting clubs and stadiums community or not will become much lower priorities than protecting the most vulnerable etc. just look at Sheffield they are looking to knock down the don valley stadium. Like I said bad news for cas but I'm not optimistic that things will turn out much differently for us.

I'm not sure that this is news. Cas have basically given up on Glasshoughton so this is just a bit of tidying up admin by WMDC, and hardly front page news.

Looking into taking some of it, probably need to find some grants etc for that though.

If Jack Fulton looks at what fev are doing and is prepared to put his hand in his pocket again he may well have a route by which to upgrade Wheldon Rd and save Castleford.
