| Quote Mrs Barista="Mrs Barista"No, you're correct, the Weatherills have 40% between them compared to Kath's 30%:
John Weatherill 211,034 26%
Pauline Weatherill 115,319 14%
Jack Coupe 107,662 13%
David Fulton 141,352 17%
Kath Heatherington 245,033 30%
Total 820,400 100%'"
So for a "buy-out" would they have to buy out the Weatherill's for full control Mrs B?
If thats the case then the "Hetherington out" mob will be wasting thier voices.

For a controlling share they'd need more than 50% in any combination I guess. I've absolutely no idea how the arrangement between these 5 was put together though or how committed the shareholders are or whether any/all of them would be looking to sell. The valuation of the business now though will be increased as we more or less have have got out of a net liabilities position (ie the value of our assets = the value of our liabilities, taking out the controversial player valuations), plus the club has demonstrated the ongoing profitability potential of the business by making 5 consecutive years of profit. As sporting investments of this size go, I'd guess ours is relatively low risk, but haven't heard for some time of anyone interested in buying.

More than 50% gives you a controlling interest but not control.
Anyone who holds more than 25% of the shares in a company can block a "special resolution" which is where a 75% majority is needed to implement certain changes.
For example, anyone coming in and buying both the Weatherill's shares and Kath's would still only have 70%.
Anyone buying all the shares except Kath's would have a minority shareholder who could block more than a few of their plans if she was minded to do so.
Do we want a board where no-one has total control as now or do we want a major shareholder who effectively owns the club and can do what he likes? This might be someone like Leneghan or the guy at Wire (whose name escapes me) but equally it could be another David Llloyd.

Oh dear! I'm afraid being literate or not does not affect your ability to think, just your ability to read and write. I'm not in the habit of following the grammar/spelling police, but you are one of the less literate posters on here. Does this affect your ability to think?

No, it doesn't. The fact that he's mildly retarded takes care of that.

| =#FF0000OK - I've been writing PMs but this thread looks like a good place for a general request.
Can we all cut out the squabbling please. It's clogging up threads and isn't really necessary.

| Quote UllFC="UllFC"Players I feel we need to ship out are:
Berrigan: Massive pay, very average, struggles to make an impact on games when we are on the backfoot.
Horne: Still has value as a utility player, but I dread to think what we are paying him for his weekly contribution of 'run and drop the shoulder dummy' and defensive work.
Dowes: Too small, makes no impact
Cusack: One of the weakest imports I've ever seen. Does nothing wrong as such, and makes little errors...but he's painfully dull and now very slow as well.
Lauaki: Its clear to see why noone in the NRL wanted him, poor defensively, questionable temperament, and he isn't even breaking tackles like he was earlier in the year.
Hall: Enough threads about him already...looks a good prospect playing the poor sides, looks shocking when faced with good opposition.
Washbrook: Could still make an average loose forward, but far too slow and predictable to be in the halves.
Obviously we can't ditch all of the above due to contracts, but the above is where our salary cap is being used badly IMO'"
cant argue with any of that judging by what weve had over the course of the season...
