Very sorry to hear that. i'm from Cas and partnered Tony at half back in our early days. Sad that i lost touch, such a great bloke and his success never went to his head. RIP Tony mate

oh to even have a scrum half with half his ability at the moment. we were actually blessed with 2 great scrum halves at the time - kevin harkin as well. RIP TD. How old was he? seem to remember him being well into his 30s at the time of the 82 final

RIP mr dean pretty shocked at the news i was only talking to a lad who is a friend of his son and is struggling as well.

Great player for us - a "cheeky" scrum half. of the type sadly lacking in todays' sanitised game.

His performance in the 1982 replay should be recognised as a great halfback display.

it used to be great watching him and andy gregory facing off in some of those huge encounters, their speed of thought was vital to unlock defences which only had to go back 5m, as well as having to deal with contested scrums and the constant 'battles' with the referees to get away with feeding - we'll never see their likes again
