A couple of times I didn't realise he had gone to the screen and wondered why it had stopped.



It felt like a loss the first 5 minutes coming out of the game last night before I released we had still done really well to win and played some good stuff. The wind really got up in the second half so some of the poor kicking from both sides was understandable. The only one that annoyed me was kicking out on the full for the second time to keep them in the game.



Just watched it back now and Cats were very lucky in the last 10 minutes, some dubious penalties and the phantom knock on from Tallanoa kept them in the game. For me it was a decent performance to build on, I don't expect to win at Saints next week but we need to go there and improve again.

I don't know about that, the wind was really strong and swirling in the second half.

And they should have been down to 12 men for the last 30 minutes or so. Seems a strange and blindingly obvious permutation to have missed.

In weather like that getting a win is what it's all about, strange game all round with a stack of tries and lots of missed kicks. Think kicking will be a factor for a few teams this year, lots of 1st choice kickers moved on.

Surprised how good feka was and you look miles better with heramia on in place of houghton.

Moving McDonnell on May prove to be a mistake, shall is a talent but needs time to sort out positioning and along with Talanoa will be targeted with the high ball, not so much down the throat but on the run ones.

After watching the highlights back, I noticed that all of the missed kicks (from all kickers) bar one missed on the side that would suggest a strong South to North wind, i.e. missing by the near post at the North end and by the far post at the South end. Guess we'll know more about the quality of our kickers after a few more games as tonight could have mostly been the conditions.

I thought shaul did nothing wrong, sky picked up on him been out of position on Boscs 40/20 but it was the 4th play so as the system for 5th & last kicks were only your open side winger drops along with your fullback ,rather then both wingers with fullback in the middle it was just clever play by bosc to catch us out early, that kick was perfect it would have still made touch if Shaul would have been in the middle.

not picking on him, purely an observation. If you watch the whole game back and see how he marshals the line and certainly on 5th he looks pretty indecisive, as I said he will become at least a very good fb if not a top one but he needs the ability to be eased in rather than thrown in as first choice. Add to this your going to have talanoa who needs to readapt to rl and biggs who needs to learn the game and it'll be a lot of pressure on a young lad. As I say not a criticism just an obeervation.

I do see what you are saying but sometimes the thrown to the lions pays off, as it did with Crooks & Lineham only time will tell though, but he's willing to work at it & he has natural speed & very good awareness.
