Fair enough, the guy who told me works in the bar where they took Rule to get cleaned up, but he knows nothing about rugby tbf so maybe he got that part wrong.



As for the Agar thing, I think its hugely unprofessional to be doing that, I can see the argument that it's just helping out a friend, but it just looks so bad and is an indicator of the lack of respect and matey attitude the players have towards him. In itself it's not a reason for Agar to get fired, but as a signal of how he's running things and how the playing staff regard him then it definately is.

Sorry I am not going with that, I could tell you stories about the great legend Arthur bunting and his relationships with the lads, Knocker, Sterlo etc which make this thread a joke, honestly we are all very much aware of Agars short comings and we finally all agree he needs replacing but this imo is pathetic.

Considering I was stood in the bar next to this incident I can say with good authority that all of the above is bullox. It was indeed a Rovers fan and his actions deserved a lot more than the few decent digs JR gave back in self defence !!!

Why do so many people struggle to realise that RL is now a professional sport and the way things were done back in the day is no longer acceptable?

But the sport has moved on so far since the 1980s, I'm not for a moment comparing Bunting to Agar but what could make you successful then would not work now because the elite teams are taking everything so much more seriously in terms of professionalism and meticulous approach to preparation. On top of this, Bunting clearly had the respect of the players anyway from what I've read and been told (he was before my time), Agar doesn't have this so the least he should be doing is putting a respectful distance between himself and the players.
