I don't think we are missing anything at all, only the stupid would not accept that Agar is a very knowledgeable coach. Where he appears to struggle is converting that knowledge into a credible game plan that delivers success on the field.

What I think too. We retain the valuble parts of Agar, and there are plenty. No-one needs to lose face either so suits the board. Just an extra couple of hundred grand for the new man in addition to the existing wage bill. Soon recoup that with the income the new on-field success would bring.



Surely even Rule can now see how crucial a good coach is. He only has to look at what has happened to his father in law's team this year.

It does make you wonder just what the mindset of the BoD is

Why is it that people continue to think that the CEO's statements in the press reflect his personal opinions rather than the official stance of the BoD?

Rule was popularly quoted as saying HE regarded the players and not the coach as being the overiding indicator as to the success of team. Don't remember him quoting this on behalf of the board? Do you think Kath shares this view? Do you think the Weatherills would offer an opinion?

There you go again. Anything a CEO says in public is on behalf of the board unless he specifically states otherwise. It's part of the job description. I realise that some people like to personalise this issue for some reason, but the policy towards our coach is defined by the BoD and not Rule.



Do you think that if the BoD has a different opinion we would be where we are now?



BTW, I can't recall the exact wording he used but if he was implying that the quality of players was more important than the quality of coach then it's debatable but hardly heretical. The best coach in the world won't do well with lousy players, while a good squad can have success under an average coach. Of course a bad coach can destroy a good squad so like most things it's all about getting the balance right.

very good post, also worth adding that in all types of pro sport teams that look awesome on paper can have stutters and false dawns but usually class shows through , again FWIW I think the signing of martin will be a real hinge pin to the rest of our season and drive upwards
