Plus the Rugby league only test urine, not blood, this allows player to take growth hormone as opposed to steroids as it doesn't show up. One SL player i know quite well says he suspects the use of growth hormone in the game is rife aswell as recreational drugs.

absolutly daft but the only reason the guidelines are there are because people abuse it because the propeties of some inhalers can be used as masking agents as the tests are classed void if ashtma is involved

Ridiculous decision! Surely they (the RFL) should be capable of applying common sense somewhere?! The alternative of the lad not taking sufficient dosage, and then playing, does not bear thinking about!

The thing is this isn't the RFL this is a national doping agency and as the report states the RFL might be appealing against this decision.

I am led to believe HGH is very very hard to detect in blood anyway as well as being a very expensive test. It also has to be specifically tested for. I don't recall any sports person being done for HGH ? As far as I am aware you need a standard sample from the person being tested to compare raised levels against - Problem is getting this 'standard sample'.



I for one thing the whole banning of Gaskell is a joke and would be more than happy signing an online petition if it was set up.

Liam Fox has set up a group on Facebook called Dean Gaskell is innocent and it already has over 100 members.

I'm not sure how hard growth hormone is to detect but the player I know believes it is mainly down to cost and the fact that the RL could be fairly embarrased by the number of players that would test positive.



Take your point about it being difficult to get the standard sample, could probably go into most gyms though and find somebody who would admit to taking it and give you the sample.
