Saw him make a very competant debut against Leeds a few years ago and have liked him a lot since.



What can you do? If he wants to go, he'll go, I would have hoped he'd have shown a bit more loyalty to the club whose funded his development but it's a short career and you can't fault the lad for wanting to maximise his earnings, chances of trophies and representative opportunities.

An agent with less clients would find the losses in his income elsewhere. That'd be damaging.

As Sheldon says, it is a dog eat dog business. From the club's POV it is better to sort than have it bleed on as a distraction. Tbf to Taylor, irrespective of any malign influence from his agent, waiting would probably strengthen his position.

You have to deal with the world as it is to a large extent - journalists (another recent target) and agents, they are what they are and they act according to their own agendas.

And unless Taylor is much dumber than he seems, it won't be as if Howes can manipulate him into doing something he really doesn't want.

Offer him a deal, if he doesn't want to negotiate, offer him a transfer, if he says no and wants to see out his deal, at least we get another year's return on our investment and a lot can change in 6 or 8 months. It'd be a bit of a odd situation for player and club, especially if he's determined to turn Sith, but that is the reality of it.

I do agree with you the whole transfers/agent situation is a joke



The anti tampering rule is a waste of paper if the rfl dont enforce it.



I'm not sure how limiting the players an agent can have will make any difference though because the agenst will just pool their players together again.

Dodgy deals have always gone on, even in the eighties. Birch and Hartshead Moor services were rife with players, agents and chairmen plotting their nefarious plans.



Dave Hadfield metions this in his excellent book "Up and Over: A Trek Through Rugby League Land".



Highly recommended, as a slight aside.

I've got mixed feelings about going back to the eighties.



Obviously, for the moustaches I'd love to. But on the flip side I had my sisters hand me down bike. It was sky blue with white tyres, no cross bar and a white leather saddle bag. I tied a bit of rope across it as a make shift cross bar.
