In a roundabout way yes. Rovers where well within their rights to seek compensation but instead a severance payment was negotiated (between Rovers and Scott) which the Broncos paid. Because of the nature of the arrangement the settlement tends to be a nominal sum, Scott will have then negotiated a contract with the Broncos.



In the case of Liam Watts. Even though he has been given permission to talk to other clubs he is still under contract. Rovers can still demand a fee for him. Liam can still expect to receive a settlement if he leaves before his contract expires.



Lets not forget though, Liam might do a Mills and sit out his contract if it isn't matched (or bettered) by another club.

There is sure to be interest already. What (for example) would be the difference compared to Jay Pitts move to Hull? If someone wants him, its a crime to rip up his contract and see nothing for the investment the club has made and not seen a return on it.

Tbf, it'd possibly be a decent move for him. If the rumours are as true as they are persistant, it seems like a heck of risk for them though. OTOH, they could be a mix of nonsense and exaggeration - a lot of rumours are.

I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole nowadays. Way past his sell by date and it will only get worse injurywise.

We (the club) must be in the driving seat with regards to favourable £ conditions to Watts' impending departure.

If the HDM are spot on (*[ilike they always are[/i) with regards that Watts could even leave this season - you'd like to think we've got something lined up. Letting him go to a play off rival now, would be a little silly otherwise.



Watts' career @ Rovers will always be remembered as an 'if only' scenario imo. He has shown glimpses of promise but never really kicked on thereafter. He's obviously highly rated away from the club, so let's see if anyone else can get the lad to consistently perform. There's clearly a good player in there but there also appears to be a bit of a problem too. He came to us with a history and I recall him saying as much in a Sky interview. Getting away from Cas was key to him turning his career around (or something to that effect). If the rumours are to be believed and he maybe Hull bound, then good luck.

still has the potential to be a fantastic player but for whatever reason that's not materialising at the moment. It feels like he's he's chucking the towel in a bit early with regards to trying to fulfil that potential at Rovers but perhaps his hand is being forced by the club not being willing to invest any more time into waiting for Liam to perform consistently. If sandercock doesn't think Watts is worth persevering with then you could argue that Watts hasn't done enough to suggest that that is a wrong decision. If on the other hand this is Watts wanting out at the first sign of having to work hard for his place in the team then I would suggest it's probably better not to have a player with that attitude in the squad anyway.
