| Oakes is only 16/17, big call to play against a big side like Salford, Carney would kill him, the ouside backs for them are massive.
His time will come if he is good enough, in fact play him against us, our wingers are pretty average.

| Quote TheRealisticOne="TheRealisticOne"I have watched Oakes quite a few times and IMO he is ready to play (or at least stronger than Shaw and Dixon) the Left edge has looked powderpuff for the last few games, why not give him a chance, surely he cant be any worse. I think he would impress a few.'"
Of course you've watched him, you're his dad!
Let me give you a word of advice,
Back off from pushing your son down everyone's throats, you're raising expectations beyond the point at which he can possibly live up to them!
Many a proud father has been the route cause of their talented sons failure, Will won't thank you in the long run!

| My whole point is that we have several academy players in this country that may never get a shot because we bring in hasbeen aussies, Lancaster@FC looks some playe, Young Smith at Leeds, Young Wardle at Hudds is awesome, Paisley at Wigan. We have so many players in this country with potential that do 'stand out'. With a lack of a decent reserves team a massive portion of these will be lost to the game. As a former coach of a super league academy team I have seen several of these first hand and believe that the system is failing them, so much so that I stood down from my position!!!!

It's a problem with the game as a whole but Jamie peacock and rovers seem to be trying to change the way young lads are dealt with, the club have obviously seen oakes"s talent and they will obviously do the best by him and will nurture him so he is ready to play super league

| JP seems to be keen on bringing in decent young English talent (Minns, Shaw, Mulhern, Oakes, Wardill, Moran, Cator to name but a few), I am not suggesting that they are all Super League grade players right now but if they can be nurtured in the coming years who knows, we may even see an all English SL team hahaha. If this is JP's ethos then the future could be bright, and I agree with the points that there is no need to rush these lads. JP and Webbo will know when they are 'ready' and will only use them then.
