Quote Mild Rover="Mild Rover"The fact we have been pushing teams close offers, if not consolation, at least some indication that we aren't miles away - we just can't get over the line, which is a worry. We're not, as form might suggest the worst team in SL - on the other hand when we won 6 from 7 and we were never that good either. We're 10th this year pretty much guaranteed (I think), and that is, overall, a fair reflection - as it generally is.
Injuries hamper you, but all teams have them. Sandercock's first season has maybe been worse than any of Morgan's from that POV, so I hope nobody is calling for his head yet. Realistically though, if things don't pick up in the first 10-15 games of next season, he won't get a new deal. Hopefully, from our POV, this has been a bottoming out.
The one strange positive for him is that expectations will be lowered to distinctly realistic levels for 2013 - he just has to be damn sure we reach them.
New north stand, Disco Dave's dash and a few promising debuts - apart from that, our sixth SL season can get stuffed for me. Bring on 2013.
edit: Doing the double over Huddersfield was nice too.
Hope Galea, Webster, Murrell and the others still got a hand despite the disappointment, but.'"
I see a fair bit of Rovers and I think that you're not that far away, but there are some serious improvements needed at the same time. You could sense (I thought) once Wigan scored the try right on half time that they would win the game, and that was the feeling around where I was in the RM Stand.
I've been impressed with a lot of the kids who've played this year, Sheriffe looks like he'll be a good player, I'm impressed with Liam Salter, Cox is a solid player and Dave Petersen is good too, so a few more of those and you won't be far away.
Really felt for Scott Murrell at the end today, it was obvious just how much Rovers means to him, him and Galea are 2 players who I've always enjoyed watching for Rovers, especially the Scott Murrell of 08/09 before Morgan tried turning him into a hooker.
