| Seems a good, competent first performance. We could have thrown that one last season when they came back at us second half!
What are the positives those of you that saw the game?

| Slightly off thread but it took place today . Thought at ht they were done for trailing 20-6 but great credit to Leigh storming back and winning 36-24 v the Bulls . Impressive stuff.

| Bradford seemed well on top. Leigh have grown accustomed to winning, Bradford the opposite. Probably 2 evenly matched teams but Leighs experience of winning shaded it. Sounded a cracker, and Leigh have set a great day example for matchday 1, that we all have to follow. There is little difference between Leigh and Fax as clubs, and we should look to try and emulate their progress. A great day for the Championship.
Have your digs at the rfl all you want about the complex structure. But (on the evidence so far) they have created an enthusiasm for British rugby league which has been missing for years, throughout the professional game. I applaud Leigh, and I applaud the rfl

| Charlie was very happy with the Leigh Result and happy to hear Fax had won , I love to hear from a happy Halifaxjohn and I know Bentleyman will be smiling , Happy Days however from tomorrow its WAR between Fax and the Mighty Leythers , for the next 6 days , so let tomorrow let battle commence .
We will arrive in good numbers after todays result and hopefully it will be a very entertaining game , our Pack is Stronger than last years , as im sure the Fax pack is the same , can wait for Sunday , see you all then .Charlie knows . .

| Just got back from Whitehaven. Off thread as above, on Leigh game, looks like a cracker. We heard at Haven that Barlow got thumped again? Also heard Leigh were behind by 20 -6 and started a dishing it out again. That's us ,Leeds last season and Bradford this season. personally I think they are a good side without resorting to these tactics. No team is whiter than white, including ours, but looks to be the start of a common theme when the chips are down!
Todays crowd just over 1,000.
Mozza dictated at 6 though is still lacking that pace of the mark for a 6 but more than makes up for that in class.
First 15 mins we just blew them away and played some expansive rugby that I have not seen for a long time.
Young Saltonstall showed some great offensive touches and Tommy S is going to have to up his game to get his wing spot back on that performance.
Our forwards won the ruck area on attack .
Steve Tyrer left his kicking boots at home though to be fair, as we shipped the ball from wing to wing, we scored a lot of tries out wide.
Brown looks like a similar style replacement to Rob!
Robbo was devastating outwide.
Ben kay looks to be a confidence player who likes to be the No 9 main man and his play positively reflected that.
Miles will add some go forward this year and is a great finisher.
Great touch at the end when the players came over and gave a child a rugby ball they signed straight after the game.
Whitehaven look to have a long season ahead of them.
Fax top of the league at least until tomorrow night !!!

Well Freddie. The main positive we saw was playing as a team rather than the one up stuff from last year. Some good individual performances, Saltanstall, Moore, Robbo, not forgetting Worrincy with two good try's. He looked a different player from last season to me! Grove, shudds. Oakham JHB 3.8 % Mmm!

Looked the same to most of us, scored a long range try and bombed the high ball.

The positives?
I won a packet of Jelly Babies in the on board raffle
Ate the three black ones, (best be careful here) and passed the others round.Neil's Magical Mystery Bus.
Greggs was open at our last stop on the way home, steak bake £1.45 which incidentally is .35p more than in Halifax's Greggs.
O'h and a great game, great friends on the Charabang, a great day out.

| Defence was a bit slack at times and we let them offload too much in the tackle. We won the game in the first 15 minutes and you never really thought Haven could get back in to it and we were very comfortable and could move up the gears when needed.
Thats the bad, the good was we played better rugby than we have done for many a year and although we pushed the offload too much at times when it did come off we looked like we might be very hard to stop. The try that we scored at the end of the first half when Saltonstall turned his winger inside out was pure class. The highlights will be worth a watch again. Our centres and wingers have not touched the ball in the last 3 years but watching yesterday it was a totally different style of play and they will see plenty of it this season and with Taylor and Tyrer looking very classy whoever is on the wings will score plenty of tries.
Of the players I thought Saltonstall was the pick along with Robinson and Tyrer who all caused their opposites problems. Maneely went very well at hooker as did Kaye. Taylor looks a quality signing and our halfs went well creating plenty of chances. Other than the players mentioned I didnt think anyone from the pack really stood out but as a whole they get on top of the Haven pack very easily which is always a good sign.
Leigh will be a lot tougher and it would be nice to get a decent crowd down the Shay and give them a game. It could be too early in the season for us but we can play without any pressure and almost take it as a free game that we are not expected to win.

John the Bulls had around 2000 fans at the LSV to make it a very good atmosphere,I have to admit Leigh did try to mix it a bit with Bradford's pack and we didn't get much ball in the first half but when we decided to play rugby we left the Bulls well behind.Next week should be a cracker, looking forward to the game ,I will be in the 3 Pigeons early on,but I'm bringing Andy Gregory to the game and he is speaking to your Sponsors so I will be with,as his Translator, ass you know I speak fluent Rubbish , so most York is know what I'm saying.
