| I'm not concerned with journalist's reports of interests so much as the actual signings when they are announced.
Hetherington can only be fairly judged as and when and if a replacement for Buderus for 2012 is required and delivered.

Snippet from Buderus post-Wembley interview gives something away:
"As for Buderus himself, at the age of 33, the seasoned New South Wales-born forward, in his third season with Leeds after signed from Newcastle Knights in 2008, admitted that there may not be too many opportunities to get back to Wembley.
"It's probably my last chance," he said. "But anyone who gets a run out there always knows it could be their last chance to play here.""

| Agree with G1 re the Burrow situation if it had of been anyone else but D Mags he would have been out. D Mags great player and needs time but for me not getting any better so cannot see why he's getting nod over RB. The buderus call is different the man has been excellent and leads the chase and tackle line great not as many dummy half runs as he used to though and RB could never tackle with the same strengh as DB.

Is there anybody left on here still thinking McGuire is a better scrum half?
I've said elsewhere, when asked to play hooker he outshone Buderus, when asked to play 7, he outshone McGuire. Give the kid the scrum half role and stop fekking about. If we're desperate for Chase fine, but it should be McGuire that loses his place for him.'"
Burrow was my MOM for Leeds and was the main reason we got back into the game. However he did not outshine Buderus at hooker who superbly led the defensive line yet again to get in the Wigan faces.
In the 2nd half when all our creative players were on at the same time it was McGuire who was the weak link and perhaps had Sinfield stayed at 6 we would have had a more structured attack.

| Mmmmmmm................OK, I agree about Rob, he had a great game and looked back to his best. If he isn't one of the top six scrunm halves in the comp, my name is Hans Vander Weisthausen (sp?).
As for McGuire, you don't become a bad player in 12 months form the standard he achived last year, although I suspect that the OP was making his point!
To my mind what yesterday proved above all else is that we have a squad of players who can compete with anybody and, if changes need to be made, which on the strength of the season so far, they do, then the choice for change is obvious.

| We met up with some really good Leeds fans in the Weatherspoons in Feltham after the game on Saturday, and had a good general rugby chat.
We said we couldn't understand why Burrow didn't start the game. They were scathing in their comments on Brian McDermott. One of the fans said that when Wigan went 16 points up he was hoping that Wigan would score 60 to get rid of him.
Rob was by far your best player on Saturday. I've met him a few times and always found him excellent company.
Good luck in the play offs, another Wigan v Leeds game would certainly prove interesting.

| I understand the reason for having Burrow on the bench. It gives us an extra rotation forward and good speed around the ruck.
In itself its quite a good tactic and I think Burrow has been playing better in that position.
I think unfortunately our pack has struggled at time to get us that quick PTB and i think at times we havent looked great at taking advantage of it. I think our forwards have lacked a bit of dynamism. None of our forwards look capable of making or taking advantage of a break, Wigans forwards looked much much more likely to make a break than us.

Was it McGuire's pass to Hall for his try or was it someone else? Was it McGuire whose quick hands had a part in the first try? None of the play makers covered themselves in glory on Saturday and in that I include all three. Burrow made an impact for 20 minutes in the first half in the second he was easily controlled. McGuire's tackling in the first half was grim but it improved in the second half but he still looks slow compared what he was before the injury - talking of slow Sinfield's kicking close to the line - did he force one repeat set?

I did mean to come on earlier and mention McGuire's two try making passes...but time got the better of me and you beat me to it.
Hopefully McGuire will regain his speed and form of 2010... [uand[/u learn how to tackle ....either way he is still a valuable member of the squad.
Bottom line is no player should be assured of automatic election: ask Smith.

| McGuire's defence is a concern right now. He was never the best defender but his technique seems to be getting worse. Hopefully its just another sign that he's still not fully confident in his leg and a good off-season will see him back to last year's form. I certainly wouldn't think at all about discarding him until he has that time to fully recover, but at the moment I suspect every opposition coach has him targeted - especially close to our line.
