I have been recruiting for my team in Germany (they always put pictures on) and as hard as I try I can't discount the visual impact of that photo.

Probably true. My German colleague was passing stuff on to me and I can only assume based on the rest of the content that the female attractiveness factor was his only consideration. I had to bin them all.

Ask yourself, why? Why does someone need to see what I look like? I actually prefer to see them without photos - most people do not look great in a passport photo - don't do it. Just don't, trust me. Most UK recruiters don't put photos of their clients on their applications or CV's, there's a good reason for that.

we did once get a girl in for interview to somewhere i worked purely on the basis of a picture she attached to her CV - didn't give her a job though.
