[iThree players – James Graham of St Helens, Huddersfield Giants full-back Brett Hodgson and Warrington Wolves prop Adrian Morley – have been shortlisted for the prestigious 2009 engage Super League Man of Steel award.
Graham is the reigning engage Super League Man of Steel and last year became the fourth successive St Helens player to win an award which is presented to the player who is deemed to have made the biggest impact on the engage Super League season.
Hodgson, who was today named as Super League player of the year by the Rugby League Writers’ Association, is shortlisted in his first season in Super League since he joined Huddersfield from Australian club Wests Tigers.
Morley’s inclusion comes in a year which has seen him lead Warrington Wolves to victory over Huddersfield Giants in the Carnegie Challenge Cup Final at Wembley, their first final success since 1974.
Earlier this week Hodgson and Morley were both named in the 2009 engage Super League Dream Team.
The Man of Steel award is decided by a poll of every engage Super League player and will be presented at a gala dinner in Manchester on Monday October 5.
The Man of Steel dinner will also feature a series of awards including Super League Coach of the Year, Super League Young Player of the Year and the Mike Gregory Spirit of Rugby League award[/i

| I stated last week on the Leeds forum that Peacock is going into decline, this more or less confirms it with the short list.
Who ever wins it this year deserve it as they have been prominant in superleague and the icing on the cake is that there is no Leeds player.

| It has not been Graham's best season, due to the way Potter has played him, he has not had the same impact and in some matches yes tackling superb but impact runs jaded!

He probably is on the decline, he's 31 after all. But that still doesn't mean he hasn't had a superb season, he still does 60 minutes every week, makes as many yards, tackles and carries as he ever has. Infact I'd say the only part of his game that has declined is his offload game. But he's still one of the elite players in the comp, and reckon he probably will be until he retires.
