Just been on 7.30am wish FM news, Daz has signed a new 12 month contract.

Good news that but at only 12 months it suggests some forward planning going on for the back line, particularly the centres, for the 2012 season with GC coming off contract then as well.

Great news imo!

Hope to see him in the team week in week out til September!

I take it that there are still some doubts about him then?

Very much so.



He’s done very well but at the start of the season there was a lot of talk about him going back to Salford.



It shows how good he’s been this season that he’s managed to come from the brink of leaving to gain a new deal. There are no doubts that he’s earned his extension but with him not being an out and out winger there is always gonna be a question mark over his long term future at the club imo.

Not really. It is 12 months because he originally signed a contract for 2 years with an option for a 3rd year in the clubs favour. The club are merely exercising this option. Anything else would mean that the club would have to pay a bigger contract and that Goulding would be free to talk to other clubs and could potentially leave. If I recall correctly McIlorum and O'Carroll are on similar deals so if they are staying then something should be announced soon too.

A has been said it is not a new deal but a third year option.

It's McIlorum and Prescott that are on similar deals and news may be out shortly regarding them.

Thought O'Carroll's deal is to 2011 and then an option.

Either way I can see them being with the club for many years.
