I reckon the chance of keeping the leythers from being able to apply would be more motivation than the team has had in ages. We might just win that one. I'm not saying we'd go in favourites, but I think we could give them a game at least.

No point in Leigh applying now though is there, the path has been cleared for you and you alone (and Toulouse of course). Are you going to enjoy a full season of friendlies next year, as you will have nothing to play for.

We haven't had since we won the NRC, its the same circumstances. I think if and when we are announced to be the team chosen for super league from that point on we could actually start to ride a crest of optimism and you might see our crowds increase. There is a hell of a lot of cynicism from many fans in this league at this moment which would obviously disappear in large quantities if we were given the nod.



Friendlies they might be but the fans would want our team to go out on a high and it would be a very happy time for the club.

I don't thing the cynicism would go anywhere. Also WHEN you go up unless you get stitched up again and they put Toulouse in, you will be wished well by some and not by others. I feel the RFL haven't helped this with the recent release of 'new' criteria for Champ clubs, the guidelines for which look to have been written following a phone call to SOC where he was asked what limits would allow Widnes to apply but which would categorically rule out everyone else.

The backlash against us has already started, and can I remind every one of the whingers it is not our fault? None of this is. We don't control the RFL, I think that much has been obvious over the years. Direct your criticism to the right people and leave us out of it.
